An ordinary traffic stop turned into a media sensation when a friendly feline gamboled onto the scene and started climbing all over police officer Keith Urban -- and it was all caught on police video! The video made the local news on Fox 25 in Boston, Mass.
"I was conducting a traffic stop and here comes the cat prancing up, jumping around in the grass looking at me with a curious look on its face," Urban, 29, tells Paw Nation. "I couldn't help but notice it because it looked like it wanted to play."
Urban attempted to ignore the kitty who was rubbing up against him, but it started climbing up his leg. He disentangled the cat and shooed it away, but it playfully returned. "The cat latched onto my clothes, and it was doing whatever it wanted with me, so I just let it go," laughs Urban. "Before I knew it, it was climbing all over me."
The daring kitty even climbed onto the officer's head! "It didn't scratch me, not even accidentally, so it didn't really bother me," says Urban. "It was actually kind of nice to have a cat rubbing up on top of my head."
And the driver? "He was smiling and giggling a little bit," says Urban. "At one point, he asked me, 'Can I come out and help you out with that and get the cat?' I told him, 'No sir. I appreciate it, but no.'"
Urban maintained his professional composure throughout the friendly cat attack, but admits he might have cracked a smile. "I tried to keep a straight face," says Urban, "But I was kind of thrown off. I decided to nudge it so it was a little further away from me, so I wouldn't accidentally step on it and to get it separated from the vehicle," he says.
The encounter was so unusual Urban decided to review the videotape with his captain. "I had to go back and look at it to see if it was really a cat climbing on me and on my head, and yeah, sure enough," he laughs. "The captain had a giggle, that's for sure."
Urban grew up with dogs, but doesn't currently have any pets. "I love pets, but it's a matter of having the time," says Urban. As for the attention the video has gotten? "If people get a good feeling from watching it, that's perfectly fine with me," he says. "Anything that puts a smile on someone's face -- I'm happy."

this is just hilarious! i love that cat, and i've had many cats in the past who believed humans are furniture.
I have accidentally trained my cats to think I am furniture... I call myself "The Cat Sofa"
wow my cat is female as well and thats her way of letting me know something it has been that way for many months. you know they pick up on vibes. so every time i'm alittle stressed she'll climb up onto mys shoulders and with her posteirre towards my face she purrs in the other ear. They wont stop untill their enemies are defeated or they get what they want.
WHERE IS THIS PLACE? WHAT HAPPENED TO THE CAT? IS IT OWNED BY SOMEONE? LOOKS LIKE IT IS LOST TO ME IN AN ISOLATED AREA AND STARVED FOR ATTENTION... IS SOMEONE CARING FOR IT?
Mildred...they are in front of a house the kitty most likely lives there ;)
Mildred, the cat clearly has a collar on. I'm sure he's fine.
If the part of the video that was just shown was the whole story, yes, it would be funny. But I have seen the slightly longer version where the officer eventually gets so annoyed that he "drop kicks" the cat away from him after writing the ticket. Not so funny anymore.
awwwww cute kitty he didnt have to kick it , if he wanted the cat to be away from the car he couldve pick it up and put it else where . beside that the cat is soooo loving
HAHAHAHA!!! he didn't kick the cat, he just sailed it and that cat loved it , free ride woooohooo!!!!HAHAHA!
THAT'S WHAT THAT CAT GET'S FOR BEING SO LOOOOOOOVEIINNGG
Funny video until the kicking. BIG NO NO Officer. Big no no.
What a jackass! He DID NOT have to kick that friendly cat. I would have done a citizens arrest!
we arent cat owners, we are cat owned
Sounds like somebody got into the catnip. Meow!
I worked at a veterinary clinic for awhile, and had one of our clients inform me that smoking catnip doesn't work for people--she knew cause she'd tried it. Interesting lady.
CATS ARE SUCH AGREEABLE FRIENDS...
THEY ASK NO QUESTIONS,
THEY PASS NO "CRITTER"-CISMS!
PEACE & BLESSING TO THE AFFECTIONATE KITTY-CAT
AND TO EVERYONE
P.S.- OFFICER "UNFRIENDLY- TO- CATS" NEEDS A
"CATITUDE" ADJUSTMENT!
Why did he kick the cat like that? what a jerk! Good thing he was on tape! who knows what else he would have did to the little cat!!
sorry that wasn't a nudge..try doing that to a KITTEN in front of a cop and see where you get. If he treats animals like that on tape -wonder how he treats humans. You know what they say People who hurt little animals usually turn out to have a presonality flaw.....anyone want to see that flaw when he has a gun in his hand?? He could have made the owner hold it he would have definitely known ..hands full of kitten...no gun!
You either need to put your glasses on, or else get an eye-exam. He DID NOT kick the cat, he just pushed it away with his foot. You are trying to make a big to do about nothing. The same goes for you also Dorothy. You both are as blind as a BAT!
I think you need the glass0 Like I said you try "nudging" a playful kitten especially in front of a camera in front of a cat -then open your mouth andtell me what'S*&T flies out..you can bet there you see this on good morning america next week..this is bigger themn it looks.
