Dave Walesky of the Palm Beach Animal Control said that there have been four reports of animals attacking people on Namath's property since 2007, and rumors of many more, reports the Associated Press.
A UPS driver was attacked on Namath's property in 2007 according to Walesky. In 2008, a home nurse mistakenly entered Namath's property and was bitten by a dog she believes was Leo. In February of this year, a contractor was reportedly pinned up against the wall by one of Namath's dogs. In August, a landscaper was bitten.
As a dangerous dog, Leo must be muzzled and leashed even on Namath's property, must have a locator microchip installed, and must wear a dangerous-dog identification tag. Namath must also post a sign on his property warning neighbors that he houses a dangerous animal, and an animal control officer will visit the Namath home once a year to ensure compliance.
Namath's attorney indicated that he might appeal the ruling against Leo.

Joe Namaths dogs have bitten people.
I bet he ignore their needs and does not exercise them daily, has never taken them for a walk. Most people will blame the dogs and want to kill them, but Joe Namath should be euthanized and the dogs should get a second chance and be taken from Joe Namath to be retrained properly. Then adopt the dogs out to a forever home all on Joe Namath`s nickel.

Boy, now that, that's done, I feel so much safer, for myself and the entire world!
Do you even know the man or his dogs? if not.. wow!! You must know some one who lives next to Joe, I mean to know that he takes or dosn't take his dogs for walks and is just a lousy owner, that or you just like to shoot your mouth off every chance you get. get a life.
Hey Tony, you brain dead inarticulate moron, you're the one who ought to be euthanized. Joe Namath is a great man whose lifetime achievements surpass your entire tribe's pitiful record.
Joe's an alcoholic -- his lifetime accomplishments faded away -- when he decided to throw his life away by becoming a drunk! Pretty disappointing!
I own Labs and happen to think they are wonderful dogs. this case is the same as pitbulls. They have a bad reputation because of their owners lack of understanding of them. Dogs are like humans, they are trained on how they are raised. If you abuse a dog, he will be mean, if you treat him with love and kindness that is what you will get in return. Joe probably has them to guard his house and sees them as just that, guard dogs. In my opinion, Joe should be the one punished and not the dog. as the saying goes, animals will act the way they are taught.
Hey Tony....I'd like to cook up them dog's you have at Joe's place you moron! then we could eat at Joe's
Let me guess, you're a Palin supporter. How is it you just pass judgment on something you know absolutely nothing about? Just how arrogant can you actually be? Obviously there's a problem here, however, I would say a major part of the problem is people going on Joe Namath's property without permission... everyone I know, myself included, has a "beware of dog" sign if they have a dog. Ignore the sign, you're on your own. And I haven't had anyone ignore the sign yet, not in 30 years owning a dog.
it's a shame when animals have to suffer because their owners are stupid. he's probably not even there half the time and what's even worse is when officials make decisions that hurt the animals. this poor dog can't even live like a dog now, being muzzled and leashed even at home. they don't understand that this won't help the dog at all. why not obedience classes or rehoming the animal? namath is the one responsible for that dog's behavior so why is the dog the one suffering?
To Jolyn Blackwell: He may love his dogs, but I am most concerned about the people who in the process of doing work, are being bitten not by one but it seems all his dogs! Coincidence? Maybe it is time to discipline these dogs to avoid the real deterrent "death."
My reply is actually for Conda, No. 4 response: Where do you live??? I live in Philadelphia and we face fines if we don't clean up after our dogs! There are signs all over the place! I suggest you talk to your City Council and have an ordinance enacted and signs made up. And, if you want your neighbors to stop letting their dogs crap on your property, hand them a baggie next time you see them or, better yet, clean up the poop and put it on their doorstep!
The dogs are there to simply defend their turf against two legged animals who have no business on the premises other than catching a glimpse or snapping a photo of the once flamboyant QB.....Society is weak and predictable...
I don't see why these animals are being punnished. They are doing exactly what they are supposed to do: protect their family from someone who doesn't belong there.
The only reason this is became an issue is because of who he is I hope they decide to appeal this decision and win.
It's about time we hear about other breeds being aggressive dogs other than Pit Bulls. I'm not happy to hear about this, because obviously these animals were NOT raised properly at all. However it is some small achievement to show that ANY breed can be dangerous and that aggression does in fact NOT run in "genes" or "blood" . . . that's just asinine.
Tina you are so right in what you're saying!! If you treat a dog with respect and love then the dog will return that in full measure. I've NEVER had a problem with pit bulls, rottweillers, most any breed really. I have, unfortunately, been bitten three times by dogs because they were off their leases and were after my guy. I don't hold it against them, though. One thing I really can't stand is when I'm in the park where it's clearly marked at all entrances to leash the animals I will be confronted by someone who lets his dog off and then say, "Don't worry, he's friendly!" Well, my dog ISN'T and it upsets me to the point that I want to strangle them with their own leashes.
You S.O.B's!! I almost passed out after reading the headliner thinking the article was about "Nathan famous hotdogs", I've eaten these hotdogs all my life and never get tired of them. They're the best hotdogs in the world. AOL is so decieving!!!
A Lab and a Weimaraner declared dangerous? OMG! Two of the sweetest breeds, especially the lab. Someone TAUGHT them to attack. Shame on you, whoever you are.
Melanie, you are absolutely right about that!!!!!! Something else is going on here....
I have worked with dogs for over 30 years, and the lab is not always sweet and predictable. I have had several, come to my place of business, that were aggressive, without being "taught" to be. It is generally just the misguided owners, who get a dominant pup, and don't know how to teach them who is the pack leader, with time and patience.
Actually, I saw a show on Animal Planet (Dogs 101, I think) where they said that incidents of dog bites by Labs and Goldens was increasing because of overbreeding/poor breeding of the popular dogs. My friend has a golden who doesn't like to be brushed, touched around his tail or back end and will growl and mouth (mouthe?) you. He was a rescue and we think he was beaten, but otherwise a very sweet dog. It's a shame!
