If you thought finding a spider in your car was scary, try this on for size.

Recently in Florissant, Colorado, a young couple thought they heard someone breaking into their car in the wee hours of the morning. But according to the Telegraph, when the authorities showed up, what they saw in the beams of their flashlights was a tad larger than your typical skull-capped thief-in-the-night. In fact, a freakin' bear had somehow made his way into the car and accidentally closed the door behind him. Frustrated (and likely scared), he proceeded to thrash violently, setting off the car alarm.

When a deputy opened the door to the vehicle, the bear thankfully scampered off into the distance, assuring that nobody got hurt (except, of course, for the vehicle's leather upholstery).

HEY! HEY! HEY!, IT'S YOGI BEAR. SMARTER! THEN THE AVERAGE BEAR

Percy#2 Percy11-09-2009 @ 5:40PM

He couldn't figure out how to get out so I don't know if he was smarter than the average bear! :-)

I am not sure which is funnier, the bear thief or all the grammar corrections. I feel like I am back in school with the teacher and her pointer at the bulletin board. How funny. Unfortunately, in this country, there are too many iliterate people who cannot read, write or spell. I wonder if it will get worse since most people use the computer more and handwriting less.

You realize you misspelled illiterate?

Sonia#5 Sonia11-10-2009 @ 4:00AM

Liz...LOL!!!

Mel#6 Mel11-09-2009 @ 5:52PM

There car? Their car, is correct. It never ceases to amaze me that people who write, supposedly professionally, do not have a better grasp of their language.

Lotte#7 Lotte11-09-2009 @ 8:35PM

Not to mention these "alleged" professional writers cannot seem to find "spell-check" (though it won't help with things such as "theirs" and "there's"). Do they even bother with proofreaders? They should use someone OTHER than the writer - I speak from experience when I say that I have sometimes proofread something several times, and missed something that others then caught!

i think all animal's are beaiteful funny cute and adorrable and all animal's are special

jbjg24m#9 jbjg24m11-09-2009 @ 6:50PM

beautiful ! use spellcheck , please !

c brown#10 c brown11-09-2009 @ 7:59PM

are you related to the writer of this story? Please use spell check

Isabel#11 Isabel11-09-2009 @ 9:59PM

Spell check won't help with the plurals. More than one animal is animals, not animal's. The apostrophe makes it possessive not plural.

jrpenn#12 jrpenn11-09-2009 @ 10:02PM

But you don't have a problem with adorrable......????????

Mel, maybe you could lighten up a little along with the platoon of
nit pickers that plague the comment sections of AOL. The writers of
AOL articles have to post new and interesting articles five or six times a day. Having to put together a story and type so much in a short period leads to
errors that wouldn't occur in articles written for the printed news
and magazines. They probably don't have time for someone else to proof read
their work before publication.

DVincent808#14 DVincent80811-09-2009 @ 6:49PM

Mel is correct. Professional writers should be professional enough to catch an error like that. Spell-check will not catch homophones and proofreaders seem to be non-existent these days. It would be better to re-read your own writing before submitting an article than to assume someone else will do their job properly.

Old School#15 Old School11-09-2009 @ 7:00PM

Joe, lighten-up. I went to school when grammer and spelling were of top
importance, not the short-hand email language. If someone is putting something
on a news net they should know how to spell or at least have a window open
to an on-line dictionary or spell-check. By the way, it is NIT-PICKER or the
alternative spelling, NITPICKER. Didn't you use your spell-check?

bill#16 bill11-09-2009 @ 9:02PM

Proofreading your own material is easier said than done. Anyone who writes or does a lot of compositions knows that after you work on something and re-read it and re-re-read it one tends to see what one thinks was written. It is always best to have someone check for you. Countless times I've concentrated on proofreading some letter I wrote then put it in the mail only to see some idiotic typo later. Hard to avoid when checking your own work.

Sorry, but if they are struggling to keep up with posting puff-pieces such as this, then they are in the wrong profession! Basic grammar skills are just that, and if the writer lacks that foundation, he or she should go back to work at the car wash.

adachilles#18 adachilles11-09-2009 @ 6:54PM

joe, i agree w/ mel. there is no excuse for a professional not knowing when to use the correct word in a sentence.

Tristin#19 Tristin11-09-2009 @ 7:26PM

You people REALLY need to chill. Wow, one mistake. Did it REALLY bother you THAT much for you to complain so much! Omg that should be a question mark? Omg, and that should be an exclamation mark! Are you going to die now? Seriously. Chill.

Susan#20 Susan11-21-2009 @ 6:09PM

To Tristin, not adachilles-
Tristin, like, OMG! Learn to speak a real language! OMG! Like, this is sooooo annoying! And OMG, those CAPS! Wow! YOU must be SO irritated!
Back in the day, people were taught to speak and write properly. Apparently, now we don't even have to bother knowing proper spelling. I fear for the future of this country if we cannot even spell.
