After taking the poll, I was surprised that even 5% of pet owners would not perform CPR on their pets. I guess if you have a reptile I understand, and a horse and cow may be difficult. When I took a CPR class the instructor explained it to us. I definitely would. On my dog and even on my hamster!
I wouldn't even have to think twice. I would do whatever humanly possible to save one of my pets. Being a single person they do come first in my life.
I performed mouth-to-snout on my little Chihuahua, Bainy, several times during her lifetime, and brought her back every time. Additionally, when she was diagnosed with about six weeks to live because her kidneys were starting to shut down, I had the vet's office teach me how to give her saline solution twice daily via a needle inserted subcutaneously. We did this morning and night, and kept her with us for 16 more months. One day, she stood up, took a few steps, and fell down dead. I would have done anything I could to keep her alive. She was not in any pain, our vet said, and I would do anything within my power to keep my current dog, two cats, and a horse alive. The chickens and fish? Maybe not so much....
