We asked a cat breed expert -- Kitty Angell, an All Breed Judge from the Cat Fanciers' Association -- to lend us her crib notes in crafting this cat quiz. See how well you can tell your Manxes from your Siamese!

Woopy! That was fun! I love all things cat. At one time I shared my life with thirty of the wonderful creatures. All of cats are properly vetted, loved and regally provided for. They are neutered and spayed as they should be and I do not contribute to the pet overpopulation.

I would love to find a cat just like the one pictured. I had one identical to that one for 16 years before he passed. What a character he was up until the end. I loved him and he was aptly named Buddy. Haven't found one like him until I saw that picture.

I got them all right it said I was a cat breed brainiac haha. You are right shawpolarbear neuter and spay is the way to go. My cat just got neutered. He started spraying and that is NOT a nice smell at all! Smells like a straight up skunk.

1 out of 6 correct. Proof that I'm not a cat fan. But I already knew that before the test.

Justme#8 Justme10-09-2009 @ 9:25PM

Good grief Linda, what an attitude! I enjoyed the quiz and I have always said "Never trust anybody who doesn't like cats". So far I have been right.

Scarlet#9 Scarlet10-10-2009 @ 8:30AM

Four out of six, but then again I've never heard anyone call boots/socks on a cat anything but boots or socks *shrug*

Why wasn't red/fire point mentioned on the question concerning points? I have a Manx/Red-point oriental mix, so it raised a flag for me.

@Justme: I agree. Do not trust people who do not like cats!

Hey Linda, the only reason you think this quiz is stupid is because you're too stupid to take it!

The Cat.

Linda, Get a kitten and I gurantee you will be a cat LOVER. I felt the same way,I had a phobia about them. I have fallen so much in love with them now I cant live without them. Soft , silky , warm and lovingand entertaining plus loyal and affectionate. Right now one on my arm, one on neck kissing. Try you wont be sorry.

Barbara#14 Barbara10-09-2009 @ 10:48PM

I AM BOTH A DOG AND CAT PERSON. Why do we need to pick just one? Anyway, i could not do the test, as I could not find it? How well do you know your breeds? Thank you!!! Music!!

Ron#15 Ron10-09-2009 @ 11:34PM

They say dogs are owned by their humans. It's a proven fact we felines have a staff to attend our needs. Humans are so trainable. Dogs just don't have a clue.

paul#17 paul10-10-2009 @ 1:47AM

LUCKY THAT IS NOT TRUE. ALTHOUGH I LOVE BOTH DOG/CAT,DOGS ARE "TRAINABLE" THEY ARE TRAINED FOR THE BLIND...POLICE DOGS...DRUG DOGS...

THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK--OR "GET A CLUE"

This made me sad. I have to put my 14 year old orange cat down tomorrow. He is diabetic, and just won't stop marking the carpet and furniture.....I have tried everything......I am devastated.....

mylissa#19 mylissa10-10-2009 @ 12:43AM

hellen
does your cat have any other problems besides the diabetes?
have you asked all the vets in the area for help? or out of the area?

been there, done that#20 been there, done that10-10-2009 @ 1:56AM

I'm so sorry for you Hellen. I had and old cat that started doing the same thing, but for no apparent reason. I tried everything, even rather expensive anti-depressants. Nothing helped. I reluctantly and with considerable guilt had to put her down too. Unfortunately I had to replace my carpets and most furniture. I didn't give up on cats though. I have three, ranging in age from 8 to 16. None of them have ever eliminated inappropriately anywhere for any reason.

Your poor old guy probably doesn't feel very good and this is his way of letting you know. Considering he is diabetic he may have other organs failing as well. 14 years is a good life for a cat. If you've given him a good life up to this point you've done the best you can.
