Earlier this year, the TLC channel aired a pre-divorce episode of Jon & Kate Plus 8 showing the family visiting a local breeder for two German shepherd puppies to add to their brood of eight children. Kate confessed at the time that she had never owned a dog and feared "all the mess, all the poop, all the pee, the added expense, the hair, [and] the slime."
Now that the Gosselins are divorcing, it seems Kate wants nothing to do with the dogs, reports RadarOnline.com. "Jon blames Kate for having to give up the dogs," RadarOnline quotes a source as saying. Jon -- who splits his time between the family home in Pennsylvania and an apartment in New York City -- blames Kate because she refuses to care for the dogs and their eight children when he is not at the house, reports RadarOnline.com.
Last week, the 15-month old dogs named Shoka and Nala were returned to their breeder, Jeff Christopher, indefinitely, reports RadarOnline.com. "I've got them for an undetermined amount of time," Christopher tells RadarOnline.com. "There was no discussion of a time when Jon is going to pick them up. Nothing is final."
It seems the dogs may one day come back to the Gosselins -- at least according to Kate. "They'll come back I'm sure at some point. But for now, I just needed a break."
According to RadarOnline.com, despite his inability to care for the dogs full-time, Jon still wants to breed one of them. Um, does someone have a reproduction addiction?
Apparently, Jon has yet to decide which dog he will spay or neuter -- Shoka, the male who "has the beautiful German line in his coat" or Nala, the female, who has "the darker American coat," reports RadarOnline.com. We think eight's enough for Jon, do you?

They don't deserve to get the dogs back. Let them find permanent homes with people who don't want to dump their animals when times get tough.
Should have thought about the slime, hair, etc. before you got the dogs IGMO! Cute when they are little, but not when they are big? She treats her dogs like her husband. She just kicks them out and gets rid of them because she can't handle the dirt.

I can not stand that -I THINK I'M BETTER THAN EVERYONE ELSE B%TCH KATE-she needs to get a grip on REAL life. Grow up, treat her husband like a person than a dog and then maybe he wouldn't go out looking for positive attention elsewhere.

I think they should be found responsible, permanent homes where they will be spay/neutered. We have enough animals that do not have homes do we really need more unwanted homeless pets? I don't think so!
Pedigreed or not, there are too many dogs and not enough homes. Neuter them both. It is better for their overall heath and there are plenty of 'purebred' dogs. Why is this such a tough choice to make? Are there enough homes to go around? Are thousands of dogs being put to death in shelters everyday? Are a large percentage of these doomed dogs purebreds? Jon, you do the math and go to vet with both dogs. People breed because they think they gain prestige for it and not for concern for the animals at all. From throuoghbred horses to greyhounds to you name it, breeders are guilty of too many unwanted, 'substandard' animals. Jon nueter them both you git!

I'd much rather live with those two beautiful dogs than any of the moronic Gosselins! They do not DESERVE to get those German Shepherds back after dumping them!!
I must have taste. I've never watched this stupid show. But it really worries me that so many Americans do! What does anyone get out of this horrid mess?! The poor children being emotionally abused on tv....two cheating, irresponsible "parents" who divorce after bringing 8 CHILDREN into the world?! What does this cr*p teach our children? And what does it say about our society and morals? I really think that ALL TV executives who make these reality shows should be shot asap!! ~~~
Send them back??? Are you kidding me! These people don't deserve these beautiful dogs. They can't take care of them and their 8 brats and they are thinking about breeding one of the dogs. Don't they have enough money? I hope the breeder doesn't give them back - EVER. What's next Gosselins? When you get tired of Mady's drama, Alexis' screaming or Joel's whining, are you going to send them away. I too would rather live with the dogs than the Gosselin "accidents".
I watched 10 minutes of this show during its second season and I had to turn to something else. I know that little kids scream, whine and throw temper tantrums, but this was ridiculous. Who wants to listen to that for 30 minutes or even a full hour? And now they bring two dogs into this mess. The sad thing is, that no matter how neglectful that family would be to those dogs, the dogs would still love and be loyal to them, REGARDLESS! Jon and Kate, let the breeder give these dogs to homes that are not in such turmoil, take your show off the air, stay out of the public eye, and give your kids a normal life.
Stop exploiting your children. Get a real job and stop living off the children's celebrity. Give the dogs back so they can get a home with people who love animals and children.
she never wanted those dogs. i think they are beautiful dogs and need to go to homes were it might be one day they can stay and the next hey have to go. the kids get used to having them and she wants them gone. she is a controlling b**** who has to have everything perfect. she has 8 kids. whats more inportant the clean house or having fun with the kids. then they added the dogs. sheppards are big. to bring in 2 of them was just nuts. i had the feeling they were going back to the breader when i saw that episode. like kids animals are not pawns in a game they need care and respect. she can't give them either.
The poor children. They are ripping their hearts out with this mess. I am sure the children will need counseling asap.

OMG! I had to put my beautiful german shepherd down after 11 great years with her. I would love to take one of these dogs. They are a great breed, good with kids, loyal and protective of family. I am surprised TLC did hire a dog trainer and do a skit on that instead of the crap they have been showing. I didn't know this happened because I quit watching the show.
