Remember the hamsterdance -- those singing, dancing hamsters filled us with joy and ineffable hamsterness? It was one thing when hamsters were on your computer, but did you ever think they'd be inside your computer?
eBay vendor ak_drummer, a person with too many old electronics and too much time, has given us a hamster cage for the new millennium, in that it's from the last millennium: a hollowed-out 1998 iMac. Now your hamster will be up-to-date on things like the Monica Lewinsky scandal and that brand-new show "Dawson's Creek"! Not to mention how computer-savvy your hamster will become: soon he'll be downloading *NSYNC songs from Napster, burning them onto a CD-ROM and playing it on his trusty Walkman.
Ak_drummer pulled out the iMac's guts and screen and soldered in metal caging, then used his own hamster as a guinea pig. While the cage is fit for gerbils and mice, ak_drummer warns not to use it with rats, as they would chew through the plastic.
Awesome as it may be in theory, this hamster cage has its problems. It's rather small, it has only one opening, it looks like somebody made it in their basement, and it costs $350. Wait, hold on. Seriously? 350 American dollars? For that kind of scratch you could by a small island for your hamster. Thankfully, ak_drummer is allowing people to offer less than the asking price.
Considering this product has been languishing on eBay since June, it seems that ak_drummer hasn't had many offers. We at Paw Nation are nothing if not helpful towards our animal loving friends, so we suggest that you help this poor soul out and bid on his cage. Oh, and get this, it comes with a keyboard and a mouse! Ah... rodent puns.
