Professional pet detectives are assisting in the search for Daisy, a Maltese-poodle mix belonging to Jessica Simspon, who was abducted by a coyote -- before the singer's own eyes -- on September 14, reports 3News. But instead of hunting on foot, the pet detectives are working the phone lines.
Findtoto.com, a pet locater service, offered to help Simpson free of charge by broadcasting a "lost pet alert" telephone message to 1,000 homes in the Los Angeles neighborhood where Daisy went missing, reports Us Magazine.
"We're kind of an AMBER alert for missing pets. We took the address of where Daisy went missing and we used that as a bulls-eye," Colleen Busch of Findtoto.com told Us Magazine. "We called 1,000 neighbors in the surrounding area [Wednesday morning] and sent out a 30-second message with details about Daisy and her disappearance, and details on how to get in touch with Jessica's assistant."
The service typically costs $175. Findtoto.com offers a range of "alert packages" allowing owners of lost or stolen pets to hire the company to broadcast a message to 250 neighbors for $75, or up to 10,000 neighbors for $875.
But the chances of recovering Daisy alive are not good, according to celebrity dog trainer, Jennifer McCarthy, who spoke to Us Magazine. "Unfortunately, if she saw the coyote take Daisy, the chances of it surviving are very slim. She's probably not alive anymore," McCarthy told Us Magazine. (Yikes! Remember what happened to Ozzy Osbourne's dog who was killed by a coyote in Los Angeles?)
No doubt, Simpson is holding out hope for a miracle. "She was very appreciative and thankful we offered to help," Busch told Us Magazine.

Prinny, the Cat Who Swims Like a Fish

She was never the brightest bulb ib the lamp. Does she really think that her dog is going to be found alive? Almost a certainty that her dog was coyote chow minutes after being snatched.
I agreee 100%! Get real people, the coyote ate the dog, that's what they do. Small dogs and cats are prey for coyotes, he was eaten as soon as they were away from people.
Unfortunately, I don't think they will find sweet Daisy alive. But, why are they not checking their property and surrounding area for her remains? I don't think Coyotes eat the whole animal. They could at least bury her remains and Jessica would feel a little better that she did that for Daisy.
I also can't believe that the people in LA who live in areas where Coyotes and other predators roam, don't keep pets on leashes or have their properties fenced where its not easy to get in to the animals. It happened to Paris Hilton, Ozzy O. and now Jessica. If you can afford a wooded estate, you should have a good fence for protection or just stay very close to your animal with pepper spray in hand. Of course, hindsight is 20/20, but now another pet is dead.
Since I live in "area" where coyotes roam, you need to realize that coyotes will come into the yards, jump fences...the only reason a leash would be effective is the coyote won't come near a human
People need to learn to watch out for their pets. If you know there are dangers for your pets. Keep them on a leash or if you cannot. Why not build a covered pen for them to play in? A wire covered 10x10 dog kennel in your yard, can protect your pets if you cannot go out everytime. I have one againest a window so that my cats can enjoy the outside without threat or them getting lost.
Abducted ? Coyotes do not abduct dogs. They are not in the kidnapping business. We all know the outcome but losing a dog is never easy.
Jessica,
I think you need to realize that the chances of finding your dog alive are ZERO. If it was snatched by a coyote , that means its history. You cannot be this dumb/naive. I feel bad for your loss but you are wasting people's time and efforts with a loss cause. Shame on the people who are taking your money whenTHEY KNOW this is a nothing but to make you feel better.
At least she is helping the economy. I am sorry for her loss as I am a animal lover.
If you read the article it said the company was searching for the dog at no charge but it is clear they are using this to advertise thier services for free.
I agree the dog is history; if a coyote took it, it was dinner.
Doggie is a snack. Forget it and move on.
Coyotes apparently killed my dog. He was a registered border collie and was considerably bigger than Jessica's. He could have handled one or two but probably ran into a pack. The last time I saw him he was running toward the coyote's yapping and we never found any sign of him after that.
Wait, so someone who makes millions of dollars gets the service for free, but people who make a small fraction of what she makes have to pay? There is something wrong with this world!
R.I.P. Daisy. Poor little thing.
Or we could just pass a law making stupidity illegal and you would be history.
I guess the people are just trying to help but GET REAL the poor dog is GONE. If Jessica is lucky she might find the poor pooches collar, the rest is coyote chow!!!
Feel for Jess, I know what its like to lose a pet no matter the circumstances.
She will have to move on and accept the fact that Daisy isn't coming home. But I know it will be hard....Daisy was a beautiful pup, too cute for words!
If it were my pet, I would want to know for sure too...even if the chances of finding it alive were slim. I hope that they find something, even at the very worst remains, so that she can have closure. Very sad to lose a pet no matter who you are.
I live in an area where coyotes roam too but people can keep their animals safe. Sure, they may still try to get a pet but, if they are on a leash, you may be able to get it away from the coyote. people should have something for defense anyway. Coyotes don't eat the fur and hide of an animal, imo. I had a friend whose cat was killed by a bobcat and it was a terrible thing to see but there was evidence of what had occured to the animal. If it was me, I would be looking in the area for the remains because I would want to bury it.
So basically a bunch of people are on the phones and Jessica is sitting her stupid ass at home waiting for the phone to ring and not actually out looking for her dog (remains). Hopefully this tragedy will open her eyes and she will be a more vigilant and responsible pet owner in the future. I know if I lived in a place where there were creatures who could take my doggy out of the backyard even in front of my face I would keep it on a leash and or take my shotgun outside with me. I probably wouldn't shoot the bugger but a couple of warning shots will get that thing out of my yard and he will probably never come back. Even without that I could take a coyote with my bare hands, she should have done something more.
Whenever we visited my parents, we made absolutely sure that our little lahsa apsa was ALWAYS on a leash. The coyotes are so bold in Colorado. Cats were their favorite appetizer. If you want to live in a beautiful natural setting, then you must accommodate the animals that were there first.
We all know Jessica is not the brightest bulb in the pack but come on, does she seriously think there is even a glimmer of hope this dog will be found alive???
