Though there have been no complaints thus far, the company became aware of a production error by its U.S.-based premix supplier that resulted in incorrect zinc and potassium levels in the dry cat food. Dog food, wet cat and dog food, and treats are not included in the recall.
If you have any of the recalled products, you're urged to return it to the retailer.

I'm glad I stopped feeding my 3 cats this food (nutromax) about 6 months ago!
This is the recall from May, 09. This isn't a new recall. Can the publishers research the articles. I feed nutro's products to my 3 cats and all are doing great.
Two years ago I almost lost my dog to a reaction to Nutro dog food. I had bought a sensitive stomach formula and she developed pancreatitis from the food. I thought I was buying a better brand and mild on her stomach and two thousand dollars later we were lucky she survived. Nutro said there was nothing wrong with the food it was the fish oil, but their food seems to be recalled more than any other brand. They need to be more careful with their packaging and labelling.

A couple years back I tried switching my cats to Nurto. Less than one day into it when they were still only getting a teeny-tiny bit of it both of my cats were puking like mad. I brought it back, got a refund and switched to Blue Buffalo and no problems since!!! Apparently ever since Mars Inc bought the Nutro line, the complains went up and the quality went WAY down so I will never ever recommend their food to anyone. My local Petco won't even recommend it anymore, they just have to carry it.
I switched my cats to Blue Buffalo 2 years ago. I will never feed them anything else.
I switched my 3 cats to Merrick B.G. (before grain) and they LOVE IT! I have also noticed many improvements such as more active, better coat, less vomiting/hairballs, and they eat less. They also come running when they see the bag and that is something that they never did when I was feeding them Nutro Max. If you love your kitties and want to feed them a great food that they will love get them a bag of Merrick B.G. they will thank you for it! Mine did!
I'm tired of Nutros recalls, I have 3 dogs and a cat, they all eat Nutro food, My cats fur started looking dull and falling out, she is a black cat with a light gray undercoat. I thought she only needed a good brushing, All her black coat fell out and she looked all gray.I have changed brands.
