Martha wrote about her beloved pet's passing on her blog, mentioning that she initially had a long wait for the remarkably beautiful kitten, which was bred in Connecticut. She said that her friends and guests often made a game of trying to spot the elusive, mysterious feline, adding, "I will certainly miss him and so will my other cats and dogs." A slideshow tribute to the cat can be viewed on the blog -- we definitely recommend checking it out.
Additionally, the domestic maven tweeted about Mozart:
"mozart the cat just died- he was nineteen and did indeed have a beautiful life. we just buried him next to pawpaw-he was a lynx himalayan."
This is the second time this year Martha has mourned the loss of a pet. In March, her chow, Ghengis Khan, was killed in a freak explosion at a kennel. Ghengis Khan was the grandson of Paw Paw, another chow of Martha's who died at the age of 12 the previous April.

Prinny, the Cat Who Swims Like a Fish

you are in our thoughts and prayers martha, we are sooo sorry.....he lived a very happy longgg life....
I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Mozart. My husband & I lost our beloved cat, Oliver, last year. Although he was only with us for 2 1/2 years we both still feel such a loss. Oliver came to us though the SPCA & became an instant part of our lives. Love is brought to us in many ways. Mozart was your love as Oliver was ours. Take care & God Bless, Jeanne & George
So sorry to hear this. I just lost my best buddy named Rusty, a 14 year old Min Pin two weeks ago, and am still grieving. My heart goes out to everyone who loses their beloved pet.
So sorry for your loss. We lost our Minpin to cancer in March and still trying to cope with the loss.
Joe, We also lost our beautiful Min Pin, Sabine, about two weeks ago. 15 years just didn't seem like enough time with her. She was like one of our children. Losing her was one of the most painful experiences of our lives and we will miss her forever.
miss martha.. i know how you feel.. i lost a love one of mind.. LADY> time and work helped me though those times.. hope and pray you will feel better.. his in heaven now.. a better place then we have here. on Earth.
I am sorry that Martha lost her kitty yet I hate to burst your bubble about meeting up with them in heaven .Although God may use animals , there is not a bible schooler out there that believe in a heaven for pets

And bible schoolers, or scholars even, suddenly know everything about the mind of God? Humans "use" animals; I suspect God treats them better than that.
I just lost my beautiful brown tabby yesterday morning - he was struck with an agressive infection earlier this week, and even though he was only six years old, it wasn't treatable. My husband and I are still in shock today - My heart is broken. I am so sorry for anyone who has lost a furbaby.
Martha, Ihave a 19 yr old cat named Sasha that is in the last stage of her life. That still doesn't make it better.I got her at 6 weeks and I feel I'm losing a part of my life. I rescued a 6 yr old tortie persian named Cheyenne from a rescue in Orlando about 6 mo agon and I'm glad I did. She keeps me laughing playing with the geicos and the frogs in the screened in porch.. But I do believe that God loves all the 4 legged friends and keeps them close to him in heaven.
If you are an animal lover, like some of us are, there is never enough time and you are never ready for their passing. We have always had Great Danes our beloved Murphy who was born with a disease that could have made him a cripple, was shunned by Vets in our area even our vet of 20 years who wanted to put him down at only 4 months. We took him to OSU and a Vet named Jon Dyce operated on him and he was as close to perfect as he could be he lived 8 great years, babied and loved every day. We lost him last July and although I swore never again, we now are proud parents of 2 new baby Danes and the love and laughter they bring is immeasurable. I know Martha knows this feeling, but for now my heart cries for her.., but thanks her for the love she shares with her pets.
Nancy - just curious which OSU? Oregon State by chance? I am always interested in their vet program (one of the best in the country). Glad to hear your story came out well, but sorry for your loss.... I have lost so many good dogs over the years, and its never a good thing (no pun intended). Now have a Guiding Eye dog that we raised from 14 weeks, but for some reason he didnt make it all the way, and WHAT a dog he is! Enjoy your pups!
You are just the kind of person I'd choose for a friend! Your words were kind and I am sorry for your loss as well. I put a 15 year old rescue down in August last year and my hubby lost his beloved Golden Retriever 2 years ago. You know the phrase, never again! We are the proud parents of a new French Bulldog that we spoil ridiculously but would have it no other way! Recently Fran Drescher was on Bonnie Hunt Show with her Pom who was too cute and she said how she grieved when she lost her last pet and wondered why God took them so soon (pets have short lives compared to us humans) but she finally came to this conclusion and I want to share it with you. God allows us the ability to care for another when one departs us! I'm sure your two new Dane pups are loving life with you! How lucky they are and how lucky we all are that God gives them to us!
Any pet is a family member for life. I am so sorry for your loss.
My Yorkie, Mandy, had to be down 8 yrs ago. I still feel the pain of not having her around.
Sorry to hear of Mozart's passing. I'm sure he had a wonderful life. He is waiting for you at Rainbow Bridge. You both will meet again. Don't be sorry he's gone, feel grateful for the time you had with him!
it is always difficult to loose a soul mate. seven years later no one can take his place. he was a shelter cat, very talkative and we spoke the same language. god bless you for taking care of the little ones that can not speak for themselves.
So sorry to hear about your sweet Mozart. I lost my black and white tuxedo Mercury 2 months ago. He had a very aggressive cancer in his mouth and throat, and the vet could not do anything to stop it. We'll see our furbabies in Heaven because what is Heaven without the ones we love?
I have a black and white tuxedo also with cancer in his mouth. I am removing tumors as they pop up but I'm afraid they'll grow where I can't find them. I so love my kitty. Your post really scared me.
Martha, I am so sorry about your cat..no matter how "prepared " we are it is always devastating. I lost an 18 year old persian cat and 2 years ago I lost Imagine..my golden retriever..I don't think there is any greater pain than losing an animal that has unconditionally accepted you and been by your side day in and day out. They never leave your heart. Thank you for having, caring and loving the many animals you have ...only a truly GOOD person loves animals the way you do.
I am so sorry for your loss, i know what you are goin thru I lost a minpin named Angel, Dec. 13 of kidney diease an its sooo hard still miss her.she would have been 13 this may 30th. like someone else said we'll see them again in Heaven.. i dont want to go to heaven if my fur babies arent there,, God Bless
