Now we understand why Leona Helmsley wanted to leave her Maltese, Trouble, a $12 million trust fund -- to buy tiaras! A $4.2 million dog tiara made of titanium, emeralds, and diamonds was unveiled at a Bangkok dog show over the weekend. The one-of-a-kind piece was created by Thai jewelry designer Riwin Jirapolsek for his 15 year-old male Maltese, Kanune. But put your wallet away -- this tiara is not for sale.
Crazy, you say?
Perhaps. But what else are you going to do when you're: (a) a dog lover, (b) a jewelry designer, and (c) gifted with 250 carats of emeralds and diamonds to play with? The $4.2 million dog tiara even trumps the $3.2 million diamond-encrusted dog collar being sold by a Los Angeles jeweler.
Next up for the Thai designer? A hair clip to keep his dog Kanune's hair out of his eyes, of course. "It may be decorated with jewels," the designer coyly told Reuters. As if we had any doubt.
