dog eats sock

We know -- the dog ate your homework. But your socks, too?

Bailey, a golden retriever who lives in Dorset, England with his owners, has eaten nine socks, two golf gloves, two rugby gloves, one mitten, and one stocking. Not all in one sitting, but still.

The hungry hound had been hoarding clothes for years, veterinarian Keith Moore from the Hillside Veterinary Center told England's The Daily Telegraph.

After dropping Bailey off for his annual check-up, owner, Nicola Perrett was shocked when the vet told her it appeared that her pooch had cancer.

"They phoned me to say they thought he had a tumor and I cried all morning at work," said 44-year-old Perrett.

"It is amazing that he was not more unwell or sick..." said Moore, who found a large mass on Bailey's abdomen during a routine epilepsy check. The mass turned out to be a literal load of laundry.

"Vets obviously do a fair number of foreign object removals but I doubt I will ever see anything like this again in my career," Moore added.

"It was like doing a magic trick. We were just pulling out one sock after another."

The seven year-old dog has now made a full recovery.

Bailey isn't the only dog with a taste for laundry.

A life-saving operation quickly turned into a laugh-fest in Australia recently when vets found a g-string inside Baxter, a two-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, reports the Northern Territory News.

The owner of the racy, size 10 black thong was too embarrassed to comment. She did hint that Baxter has always been quite the ladies' man.

So, tell us... what's the weirdest thing your dog has ever eaten?
