Bald Eagles are making a comeback thanks to growing concern over the environment. Scientists believe a ban on Dichloro-Diphenyl-Trichloroethane (DDT) and other agricultural pesticides have made all the difference. In New Jersey alone there's been a dramatic surge in Bald Eagles, from one pair In 1985 to 69 pairs in 2008.

This is amazing. Recently, we spotted a bald eagle flying over our family farm in Northern Ohio. It was breath taking. Thank you for getting the word out about this important work that is being done to save a species!
About 10 years ago I saw a bald eagle coming towards my house. I originally thought it was maybe a seagull. Then as it came closer, I was amazed by its huge wingspan and white head. It came and swooped down to the pond behind my house and snatched up a fish. I was so awestruck that I didn't really tell anybody fearing that nobody would believe me. Who sees a bald eagle in Methuen Massachusetts? I did!
Several years ago I was going up I-229 in northwest Missouri to a Saddle Club meeting when I seen a large bird on the side of the road. The closer I got, the bigger the bird got. When I was almost upon the bird, it spread it's wings and took off leaving the road kill at the side of the road. I was so startled I almost went off the side of the road.
